About Little Ballers
About Little Ballers
Little Ballers is a technical basketball skills program for girls between the ages of 5-19. The goal is to give each Little Baller the direction and confidence to be the best player they can be. The program was founded in 2017 by Coach Sarah Horowitz Mishaan when as a junior on her high school basketball team, she realized younger girls were not receiving the proper basketball education. The program began with private lessons to just five students in Sarah's backyard and she is now proudly teaching and coaching over 800 students!
About Coach Sarah
Sarah is the founder and director of Little Ballers as well as head coach of all three girls basketball teams at the Yeshivah of Flatbush.
As a little girl Sarah watched her father play basketball at The Center and would practice dribbling on the sidelines.
In middle school, Sarah made the Yeshivah of Flatbush basketball team and the following summer enrolled herself in all-day intensive basketball camp at Hoop Group on the Jersey Shore. Her love for basketball continued to grow and she attended this program for eight consecutive summers.
Sarah's dedication to the game brought her skills to the next level. She began to play in The Center's women's basketball league at the age of just 13, and is now responsible for organizing and running that same league each season. She made the varsity basketball team as a sophomore in high school and was both captain and MVP of the varsity team as a high school junior. In her senior year, Sarah was team captain, MVP and awarded the Senior Student Athlete Award. Beyond high school, Sarah joined the Brooklyn College women's basketball team (D3) for a brief period and graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science kinesiology.
Through all of her basketball experiences, Sarah realized that her passion for training and coaching basketball was even greater than playing. She encourages players to have fun on the court and reminds them to never to give up. She takes pride in the relationships she has built with her players and many seek her mentorship.
In 2022, Sarah was awarded Youth Coach of the Year by the Brooklyn Nets Association with the praise of establishing herself as "a mature, distinguished trainer early on in her coaching career."
